What is floor sanding?
Floor sanding is a technique to remove the upper surface of the wooden floor and replace them by sanding with rough materials.
A variety of options are available for flooring such as cork, timber, particleboard and parquet. After the previous flooring is removed, the old floors are often sanded and underneath the layer wooden framework is found. This type of flooring usually includes three important stages such as preparation of the floor, sanding of the floor, and then the last one coating with protective sealant.
How the flooring is done?
Before the preparation of floor sanding the first and foremost stage of the process is to remove the old flooring. After completion of all of these processes, the process of actual sanding begins. During this stage the entire old flooring is properly removed and there is nothing that is left behind. The sanding process begins with the removal of the old wallpaper with the help of coarse grit papers.
The floors should be flat and the height between the boards should be similar. The sanders with the greater length are used in covering the entire room; Grit paper of 40 is commonly used for this purpose. There are some areas that cannot be reached even by the large sanders; edgers are used for those areas. The most important task of this project is to fill up the holes and boards. Usually the paper within the length of 80 is used for the second cut.
The belt sander is used for the sanding purpose and is placed accordingly with the timber. A finishing machine is used for the Midas touch that gives an elegant look to the floor. The grit paper that is to be used in sanding the floor depends on the personal choice of the customer. The sanded floor is coated with many poisonous coating so it is always advised to wear a suitable protective shield before coming in contact with the floor sanding material.
Tips on maintaining a sanded floorboard:
- A routine cleanup is required for the sanded floor, it will be a hassle to clean all the piled up dust, and do not cherish the unrealistic thought that the new flooring is for lifetime, because it is true that sanding the floor can make the flooring durable for years but that requires a whole lot of maintenances.
- Shoes with pointy heels should be avoided on a sanded floor, a good quality mat or a soft cover for the floor will protect the floor from dirt that is harmful for the flooring.
- If the flooring is wooden then it is wise to avoid any kind of liquid cleaning material.
- The UV rays are as effective on the hardwood or timber floor as it is to the human skin. The polish and the finish of the floor get affected very badly in the contact of the sun.
